Bad start, great finish..................... August 6, 2007 Anthony (Andover, NJ United States) 42 out of 42 found this review helpful
This is for everyone who gave this quad a bad review because the charge does not last more then five minutes or less. I purchased this dirt quad for my 8-year-old son and like some of you I was quite disappointed with the quad's charge longevity. The quad did not last five minutes before my son was wheeling it back into the garage for a charge, and it was brand new! At first I thought like the rest of you who experienced this same problem, "It was just an expensive piece of junk". But I noticed when the battery went dead and we put it on charge the light on the charger would go from red to green in just a few minutes, a lot less then the recommended charge time. So I figured maybe the charger was no good. Luckily we also own the Razor go-cart, which uses the same charger and always worked great. So I swapped out the chargers but the go-cart still charged fine. And the charger on the quad still turned from red to green in just a few minutes and still died out fast. So I went to Razor's website and contacted their customer support. They told me the problem sounded like a bad battery and explained that even though the quad is brand new it may have been sitting around in a warehouse for months, even years with the battery connected. If the battery goes a long time connected to the ATV and never on charge, the battery will eventually go bad. The battery should always stay on charge even when not used for long periods of time. They were right! They sent me a brand new battery free of charge, after I sent them a copy of my receipt proving I bought the quad within the warranty period, less then 90 days. As soon as we received the battery, I changed it out and all I can say is "what a change"! The quad is strong as can be and I could honestly say that even driving it up and down hills on rocky terrain the dirt quad lasts well past 30 minutes, about as long as my son lasts. And it still shows a full charge on the power indicator when he is done. It is like a completely different machine from the one we started out with. So to anyone here who thinks they got stuck with a piece of junk, go right to Razor before your 90 day warranty expires and file your complaint. They have an excellent customer service department and will contact you within 24 hours, you will not be sorry. I am very satisfied with Razor and even more satisfied every time I see my son's face now on his new dirt quad.
Impressed March 29, 2007 Jan Klier (Seattle, WA USA) 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
I've seen my share of wheeled toys, and was positively impressed with the quality of this product. It has a solid frame, suspension, regular inflated tires. I'm not afraid that after a few days of use it will break, given the rough use it will get of kids at that age. I took it for a short test drive myself, and the motor was strong enough to move and adult uphill. The shipping takes a bit longer and you have to be home to receive it. But it takes 2 people to lift the crate it comes in, so home delivery is worth the convenience. I think the only design change I'd like to see is a reverse mode. The motor control only allows forward, which if you have to turn-around in a tight space can be tricky. But that's a minor issue overall. Update (5/28): This ATV has seen a lot of use in the last few weeks, including many sliding wheel stunts, etc. After one particularly heavy right it stopped working with a blown fuse and control box. The one thing which is quite helpful is that Razor will actually sell repair parts for reasonable prices on their website, more than can be said about many other products. So if it does break, it's not necessarily doomed for the trash pile.
Razor Quad June 28, 2007 Marty Moose (Gaithersburg, MD) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this for my sons 7th birthday. He has ridden it almost everyday for 2 months. Sometimes several times in a day. We recharge the battery in a few hours when the light on the charger turns green. Not sure if this is right since the directions says to charge it for 12 hours, but so far it works well. I gave it 5 stars because I am comparing it to the other plastic battery powered vehicles that we have. The Razor quad has a metal frame and rubber tires, this makes it very durable. It can also go places that the other vehicles cannot. We also have a Barbie jeep which is very beat up after 1 year. The Razor is alittle more expensive than the plastic vehicles but it is worth it and if you keep checking you can find the Razor at a discount. So far I have only let my 7 yr old drive it and he always wears a helmet. Maybe when my daughter turns 6 I will let her on it as well. My only complaint is that it is a little small, even at 7 my sons legs are uncomfortable, but he still has a blast. One more advantage is that because it is battery powered it is very quiet and does not bother the neighbors. If you have close neighbors they will appreciate this. Update 9-22-07: The quad is still going strong, have only had 2 small issues. 1. Unable to steer - one of the nuts on the steering linkage was too tight. I loosened the nut and went ahead and lubricated all the steering joints, no steering problems since. 2. Quad slowed or stopped on its own - at first I thought it was the chain, but I just had to adjust the brake and everything was ok. My kids all still love it.
Razor Dirt Quad Electric Four Wheeler January 16, 2007 Cathy L. Magnuson (Florida) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This seems to be a very durable 4 wheeler and great for a kid just starting out and learning the ropes of 4 wheeling. No trouble thus far, except if it is sitting in your living room, you might want to disconnect the power so the kid doesn't drive it off into the entertainment center!
great product January 16, 2007 shelly williams (va,usa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 3 yr old son for christmas and we are both highly satified with it. I have bought many outdoor rideons and they were all poor, not enough power, no traction, and too hard to turn. just junk. My son learned to ride in days. It goes pretty fast and may require a helmet:)
