Great pump for a great price! August 24, 2007 slackette (woodbridge, VA United States) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
I researched pumps for months before I decided on this one. This is the same exact pump as the ameda purely yours except that it is marketed under lansinoh and is purple (I even contacted lansinoh to verify this). The pump works great and is super easy to clean. The main reason why I decided on this pump was that it (and the ameda) are the only ones that are FDA approved b/c the milk never comes in contact with the tubing or the motor (as opposed to the medela pumps). The one drawback is that you will have to buy your own carrying case and cooler bag, but for the price, its worth the small expense those will cost you.
Great pump ... especially for the price September 20, 2007 Amy Oddo (Northern California) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
It is so difficult to shop for a breast pump. If you buy one, you are stuck with it. You can't return pumps ... not even to Target or Walmart. So, hopefully, this will be a helpful review. I researched quite a bit before choosing this pump. For my needs, it works great. It is very quiet and very efficient. There are only a few parts, so cleaning and assembly is very easy. It is very simple - one dial for suction and one dial for speed. I have been using it semi-daily for a month now and have not had any difficulties. It works on A/C adapter or on batteries. I am not a full-time pumper; I just use it once or twice a day to increase production and have a little milk stored for emergency or super-hungry-baby days. It is quiet enough that I can pump on one side while nursing the baby on the other. I love that you don't need to clean the tubing ... all parts that come in contact with the milk are easily cleaned/sanitized. Also, Avent makes a conversion kit (available on Amazon and at Babies R Us for about $10) so that you can pump directly into Avent bottles rather than transferring the milk into bags, etc. Works GREAT! If you are totally new to pumps, here's my advice: skip the manual or single pumps. I had the Isis manual pump for my first baby and that was a complete waste of money. I would sit and pump for 20-30 minutes and could barely get two ounces. Electric pumps are so much more efficient. Spend the extra money and get a good pump. It helps increase your milk production and can help with sore nipples.
Excellent pump at a great price January 30, 2008 E.H. 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this pump a little over a year ago after researching the many options on the market. I work full time and a good pump was an absolute must for me. The Lansinoh pump really stood up to the test. I have just recently weaned my 1 year old daughter, and I was able to pump enough milk for her for the entire year while working. The pump worked as good on my last session as it did on my first session. It was incredibly easy to use, and VERY easy to clean which is a must if you are pumping at work. I loved that no milk or condesation could develop in the tubes, as can be a problem with other brands of pumps. It was easy to assemble quickly during my short pumping breaks at work, and I loved that it was so light to carry back and forth each day. The only downsides are that replacement parts aren't easily found in stores, but it comes with several extra valves plus I just ordered some online as needed...I would replace them every month or so to keep the suction at its strongest. Also it doesn't come with a bag or cooler, but the hospital 'freebie' diaper bag worked great at first, and later I bought a cute tote bag at Target along with a small lunchbox/cooler to carry the milk in...worked fine and didn't look like a 'breastpump bag' like so many do. Overall, I'd highly recommend this pump to anyone, especially those working outside the home who have to pump frequently.
Best price, great pump! February 13, 2008 imlovingitall (Richmond, VA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have never written a review on an item before, but I really felt this product warranted one! I bought this pump when I was still pregnant with my 2nd child. I had used the Avent manual pump with my 1st, and I was so disappointed. I ended up giving up on it very shortly after my daughter was born, and I knew this time around I wanted an electric one. Only thing was, I didn't want to spend $200-$300. So I settled on this. Well, let me tell you, I hadn't "settled" at all! I can't say enough good things about this breast pump. Some pros: 1. This pump gives you the option of using one flange or two. Most often I only do one at a time, but it's nice to know you can do either way. 2. It offers different cycles (speed of "sucking") and vacuum strength (how hard it's "sucking"). To me, this is a wonderful feature because you can find a setting you're comfortable with. 3. You can switch the power source from DC plug to batteries. This is great if you plan on travelling. 4. The price can't be beat. You get much more than you pay for - I would consider this pump right up there with the best of the best Medela's - which easily cost you $100 more. And the going rate to rent a pump around here is $35 a month, so if you plan to pump for more than 4 months, it's worth it to just buy this one! With a Medela, you'd have to pump for 8 months or more to make it more economical to buy rather than rent. 5. The Lansinoh brand really is good. They make, in my opinion, one of the best nipple creams around. It is also fairly easy to find replacement parts and accessories in stores (I've seen them at Walmart and Babies-R-Us). It is also pretty easy to wash, as the apparatus for each breast is made of only 4 pieces (not including the tubing). 6. This set comes with extra pieces, bottles with caps, and a few sample freezer bags. Only a couple of cons (but not enough to make it a bad review in any way): 1. It doesn't come with any sort of travel bag. But everything you'd need to bring with you would fit in an extra purse, or even your diaper bag, so I don't really see the need. 2. It is a bit awkward to pump both breasts at the same time. It is uncomfortable to hold them as directed with one arm and hand. I feel like I lose suction on the breast nearest my elbow. I don't know if this is all double pumps - this is my 1st experience with one - but it really leaves you with no hands free. And for a mom with an infant, that doesn't really work out! All in all - I would recommend this breast pump 100%. You get so much for an amazing price.
Great Product - Highly Recommend January 27, 2008 Cynthia M. Koszarek (Plainfield, IL USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This pump was recommended to me by my hospital's lactation consultant, and I've been very happy with it. It is comfortable, effective, easy to operate and clean. A key feature is the fact that there are no filters that can clog, like some Medela models have. The price can't be beat. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a carrying case, but I just use one of the free diaper bags the hospital gave me and a gallon-sized zip-lock bag to keep the clean parts sanitary.
