Product Description
Moby Wrap Baby Carriers are amazingly comfortable and easy to wear! The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders and tied on your waist. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners which make wearing simple. The Moby Wrap is long enough to fit all sizes of baby wearers and babies - preemie to 35 lbs. Instructional Booklet Included.

5 out of 5 stars Wraps and Slings Compared   June 3, 2007
Emma Dorn (Boston USA)

The moby wrap is my all-time favorite carrying device for our 3-month old.
Our baby loves to be carried and for the first couple of months wouldn't sleep unless she was held so I did a bunch of research on different wraps and slings, and bought several to compare. Here is my 2-cents:

Mobywrap:
My all-time favorite. It is really not hard at all to put on, though it does take 2 mins to wrap it. After a while you can get the hang of wrapping it even in public places, but I mostly wrap it onto myself before I leave the house then just wear it until I am ready to put baby in, take her out, put her back in etc. I have used the moby for shopping, for trans-atlantic flights, and even to go bowling. It rocks!
Best things about it: soft t-shirt material gentle for baby and comfy for me, distributes weight across back, lots of different positions depending on whether she is sleeping or active (I use cradle when sleeping, and face her out when she is awake, then face her in when she is awake but likely to fall asleep soon), most secure.
Downsides: warmer in the summer, does take a couple of mins to put on, harder to get baby out of without waking up so once she falls asleep in there I keep her in until the end of her nap which means I can't take a shower for example.

Front carriers: (I have the Baby Bjorn Active)
This is my second-favorite carrier - and the only one my husband will wear! It distributes the weight very well and is great for longer days out, hiking etc. As she has become older this has become better and better and I feel we will get the most out of it in the next 3-6 months
Upsides: Distributes weight well, feels very secure, baby can face out or in, allows air to flow around baby
Downsides: Material feels a bit rough around baby's face, perhaps not good to use for long periods because of leg/back development (baby bears all her weight on crotch)

Ring slings: ( I have the Maya wrap and Oopababy)
I like the Oopa better than the Maya as the material is softer and easier to pull through the ring. I use this for around the house and short trips.
Upsides: Variety of positions, easy to throw on and chuck the baby in, can gently back out of and put baby down if she falls asleep in the wrap, easy to adjust
Downsides: Single shoulder so less comfy for long periods of time, less secure when moving about a lot

Pouches (I have a Hotsling)
I use this for short trips and evening-time due to nice patterns and simplicity
Upsides: Cool patterns, easiest to throw on and put baby in, coolest for summer wear
Downsides: Feels the least secure of all options. The material is soft and shiny and she seems to slip down into it rather in the cradle position. Also single shoulder so less good for long walks.

Padded sling: (I have one of these - can't remember the brand)
Upsides: Most comfortable for baby to sleep in then be transfered to a cot
Downsides: Bulkier and warm in the summer, single-side carry issue again

If I had to buy only ONE carrier I would get the moby. If I had to get two it would be a tough call between the bjorn and the ring sling for #2.

Enjoy wearing your babies all!

5 out of 5 stars A Must-Have for Colicky Babies   January 12, 2007

This is number one on my list for how my husband, daughter and I have survived her months of colic! What we like about it:
- The Moby wrap was able to be used the day we brought our preemie baby home from the hospital.
- The Moby wrap swaddles your baby snuggly to you. If your baby likes swaddling as much as our does, this is the baby carrier for you.
- It spreads the weight out evenly across your back and shoulders and feels much better for longer periods of time (in comparison to our Baby Bjorn).
- There are a variety of ways to wear your baby with this carrier. We have used it 4 different ways so far. Being able to pull the cloth completely over her so she can sleep soundly is a plus. The instructions are easy to follow and while it looks difficult to put on, it really is quite simple after you've practiced it 3 or 4 times.
- The Moby wrap is easy to clean with being machine washable and dryable and there are no parts that can be broken or lost.

What we don't like about the Moby wrap:
- If you plan on wearing your baby to go grocery shopping or other things out in public, you need to put it on before you leave the house. It can be difficult to put on in the car or in places where you do not feel comfortable with the wrap touching the floor (parking lot, public floor, etc.). This is not a big deal, but important to remember before you run out the door. During the cooler months, I put the Moby on, then my coat.

Bottom-line: The Moby wrap was an excellent purchase. Putting our daughter in it and walking around or bouncing on an exercise ball was one of the few ways to calm her during the height of her colic. Our daughter is now 5-months old and still enjoys the Moby. We expect to continue to use our Moby wrap for many more months.

5 out of 5 stars Don't buy anything other than the Moby! You won't regret it!   May 18, 2007

Let me just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this sling!

I bought this sling two days before a ten hour flight with a three hour layover. My daughter either slept the whole time or looked around at her surroundings. In fact, the only time she was fussy or cried was when I took her out to change her or for take off and landing. My back did not hurt at all the WHOLE time. I feel she is very secure and never worry about her slipping out as I did with my other slings.
I got the wrapping correct and memorized the very first time and haven't needed the booklet since. The second I put my daughter in it she was quiet and happy, she looked around at what I was doing until she fell asleep, like magic! While I am wearing her, I am able to do most housework and even sit at the computer.
I own the Hotsling which hurt my back just 15 min after wearing and my daughter made strange noises while in it that always make me uneasy. I also own a Baby Bjorn, but i worry about pinching her and it also hurt my back after about 30 minutes.
The only possible negative about the Moby is that you have to learn how to put it on in public without it touching the ground. I usually use a shopping cart, or a bench. Though, it is not enough of a negative for me to give it less than five stars. Also, people say that the fabric is too stretchy to securely hold their child. But, the only way I can see that happening is if you tied it too loose to begin with. If I initially wrap it correctly I do not have to readjust it at all.
I hardly ever use a stroller anymore. When I go to the supermarket I just pop her in the Moby, grab my diaper bag, and go, no stroller. In the Mall I take the stroller only to hold my bags. All in all, this has been a tremendous lifesaver for me, and because of it, my home is finally getting cleaned and back to normal, LOL.

5 out of 5 stars Super Comfortable!   January 15, 2007

Prior to using the Moby Wrap, I used the Infantino sling and the Baby Bjorn. The Moby Wrap is, by far, the most comfortable one. It distributes the weight of the baby evenly across the back, reducing neck and shoulder pain. The process of getting the wrap on is a bit daunting at first, but with some practice it becomes super easy.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful product   September 28, 2007

My husband and I both enjoy carrying our daughter in this, and I've been asked where to get one almost every time I've used it. I was worried that it would be a hassle to use, like a big origami project every time I wanted to bring the baby out. But no, it's very easy and quick, I promise. I'm cursed with a bad back, so my other concern was that wearing my baby would be painful for me. Perhaps with a more "strappy" type of carrier, but this distributes the baby's weight evenly and elegantly. My only word of warning is that babies could overheat if worn for a while on a hot day, particularly if you're a warm person, so just use some common sense.
