Product Description The Fuji Film FinePix S1000fd's 12x optical zoom lens expands your shooting reach, covering a remarkable focal range of 33-396mm, bringing you close enough to capture subtle expressions. The single built-in lens means you're always ready to shoot, with no need for bulky extra lenses or time-consuming lens changes. Picture Stabilization mode automatically sets the optimum shutter speed and sensitivity for each scene, preventing blur from camera shake or fast-moving subjects, even in low-light situations. Super Macro mode lets you move in as close as 2cm (0.8") making it easy to take high-impact full-frame close-ups. The Panorama Shooting Mode makes it easy to create impressive panoramic photos. This mode captures and combines up to 3 consecutive shots, which are saved to the memory card as a panoramic picture. The FinePix S1000fd automatically detects and corrects unsightly red-eye reflections that often spoil flash photos of people. A large, high resolution LCD with 230K Resolution makes it easy to compose great shots and to see photo details when you play back captured images. The high-resolution LCD can display up to 100 picture images simultaneously in 10x10 array. Use this micro thumbnail view to instantly select specific photos to view or print. A selection of tailored shooting modes provide ideal settings for everything from shutter speed and exposure to white balance. 1/2.3 CCD Sensor File format - JPEG (EXIF Ver 2.2) Aperture - F2.8 - F6.4 (Wide) / F5.0 - F8.0 (Telephoto), max 5 steps in 1/3 EV increment Shooting Modes - Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower, Text, and PS (Picture Stabilization) Shutter speed - 1/4 second to 1/2000 second in Auto mode Self-timer - 10 seconds and 2 seconds delay Dimensions - Width 4.1 x Height 2.9 x Depth 2.7 (102.5x73x67.8mm) Weight - 11.5 ounces (325 grams)

No Complaints! May 15, 2008 Michelle T. (New York, USA) 58 out of 61 found this review helpful
I purchased this camera to replace my Finepix S5100. Mind you, there was nothing wrong with my 5 year old S5100. I just felt the need for something newer. The S5100 was a 4MP camera - the S1000FD is 10MP. I loved my S5100 and it did right by me for years, so I stuck with Fuji. It's still in the family...I gave it to my daughter and she's using it now. (Still ticking after 5 years!) I am not a professional photographer, I just like to take pictures and I don't know a lot about manual settings and such. All I know is, I keep the camera on AUTO and 99% of my pictures come out perfect. The camera does have face finder technology and for the most part, I don't have to fix red eye manually anymore. The large LCD screen is great. Battery usage is normal. (Invest in rechargeables! Save a fortune in batteries!) The zoom is decent, but the real test will be from my seats at Yankee Stadium! I'll update on this one later on. The S1000FD also accepts both SD and XD cards. I am able to use the 1Gb and 2Gb cards from my S5100. I purchased 4Gb SD cards for my Creative Zen and can use them with the S1000FD as well. I don't have issues with close-ups coming out blurry as some have complained about. The camera is a step up from the typical point and shoot cameras and a step (or two) below the expensive SLR's. It's much lighter than the S5100 and smaller. Check out the pics I posted which were taken with the camera. I don't think you'll be disappointed in this camera if you get it.
Fuji I Love it April 20, 2008 Billm-i (Chicagoland) 40 out of 42 found this review helpful
I love the feel and the size of the camera. The ability to choose the settings most used and save them is nice also. Low light pictures are very good. The quality of the pictures so far is great. Can't beat this ZOOM either. The larger size Lcd is also nice and the fact that you can turn it off and use the viewfinder, or lower the brightness is very much a help at conserving battery life. Speaking of batteries the best part about them is they are available Everywhere. So if your rechargeable AA goes dead you can pop in a store bought AA battery in a pinch. Bottom line very very happy with my purchase. 5-30-08 After using now for a while here is an update..The camera is light weight has a powerful zoom and flash.Tripod may be needed if zoomed all the way out. I have owned a fuji camera prior to this one and it had manual focus this does not . Poor judgement in my opinion camera would be much better with it. The pictures I have taken for the most part were fantastic but there are ones that I could not get to focus and these were missed opportunities of some great wild life pictures.

I love this camera. It is light weight and takes stunning pictures.I bought it to replace a sony cybershot and I couldn't be more pleased. Great zoom and takes wonderful low light photos too. You can't go wrong with it.
FinePix S1000fd May 6, 2008 G. Coles (Connecticut) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I just got this camera to replace my old FinePix S3000. The S1000fd is a tremendous camera. I love the large LCD viewing area which is great I'm still experimenting with all the features but I can say for sure this is well worth the price I paid. Do some homework and shop it for the best price...I've seen it as low as sub $200. The multitude of manual and automatic settings allows you to really enjoy taking photos. This is certainly not the typical point-and-shoot digital camera and it borders on the "semi-pro" level of digital SLR style cameras. It's physical size will surprise you but don't be fooled by it's size...this camera rocks!
Best Camera I have ever owned May 16, 2008 E. Cash 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This camera is unser friendly if you have some knowledge of cameras. If not, it will probably take an hour of fideting to get it, but once you do its worth it. I have been through my fair share of digital cameras and this one by far our performs them all. The pictures are crisp and clear and the super macro setting is insanely good. It can focus up to 0.8 in!d Its lightweight and may be a little smaller than you may expect but its handy and quick. I love this camera! Ive had it for a week or two now and its still running strong on the batteries it came with.
