Amazon.com Product Description Start a Band...the Guitar Hero Way Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with online and offline gameplay modes including online Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a slick redesigned guitar, an authentic electronic drum kit, and a microphone, as well as a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ?n’ roll anthems. Wireless Instruments New to GHWT is a redesigned, more responsive guitar controller, which features a touch-sensitive slide bar on the neck that allows the player to play through certain song passages without needing to strum. Check out the drum kit featuring three drum pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass kick pedal. The drum controller combines larger and quieter, velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver authentic bounce back and is easy to set up, move, break down and store. Be the Next Great Songwriter Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks. Available to Xbox 360 gamers is Line 6's guitar tone technology, enabling them to use amps, cabs, and effects from the Line 6 POD. Create the Band Budding rock stars can live out their rock ?n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time. Never Jam Solo Again Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy. Customize Everything The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers. A Set List for the Ages The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. Great game and worthy competitor for Rock Band 2 November 3, 2008 A. Zable (Beaverton, OR USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The look and feel of GH:World Tour is very similar to previous installations of the Guitar Hero series. The guitar game play retains the traditional Guitar Hero feel. The drum set is great, at least mine is, and the game play is excellent. The vocal game play is solid as well. A number of individuals have criticized the graphics, compared to Rock Band 2, but to me it seems that GHWT continues the charm of the original GH series. Moreover, the character creation feature is far superior to its competitor. So what really makes GHWT a worthy addition to the full band "rock band" genre? Aside from the quality game play and retention of GH series worthy guitar play, the new music studio is a fabulous and ground breaking addition. This feature allows players to create their own songs and play them in the game, as well as share them online with other players. A bit of a technical challenge and not exactly user friendly, the music studio is truly ground breaking. For those of you not interested in spending the time to create your own songs, guess what? You don't have to! The real value and up side of this feature is that others around the world will and they will post them online for you to preview and download if you are so inclined. This game has only been out a few days and there already some interesting and quality GH-Tunes downloads available. I would not be surprised if one or many of the user created songs for GHWT eventually end up being recorded by "real" musicians and released for sale.
So Much Fun November 14, 2008 A. Gift For You (Mammoth Lakes CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a fan of guitar hero and when I read all these bad reviews I was a bit hesitant to buy it but I was wrong. This game is awsome. I'm a Guitar Hero fan if you rockband fan don't dis Guitar Hero.
Great Game October 26, 2008 Fourleaf Tayback (Bala Cynwyd, PA USA) 7 out of 19 found this review helpful
I have been playing guitar hero for about a year, and have played every gaame besides guiotar hero rock the 80's. In my opinion, this game is the best. It has everything that guitar hero 3 has, and of course, much much more. I cannot compare the drums to rock bands, because I can only play on easy, but the guitar is great and the motion sensor frets under the normal ones work great. Also, you get money for doing well as well as simply getting stars, so the reward for getting 100% on a song is better than getting just 5 stars. The vocals also work flawlessly. In my opinion, this game is the best of all of the guitar hero games, and is by far the deepest.
Best Play Experience This Year October 28, 2008 Larry David (Los Angeles, CA) 2 out of 17 found this review helpful
After playing it today for first time I instantly reached the conclusion that Guitar Hero World Tour is by far and away the best rhythm game available on the market today, was worth the wait, Guitar Hero is way better than Rock Band. Guitar Hero delivers perfectly, in my opinion it has everything I wanted out of a guitar rhythm game: great peripherals and fun-to-play music. Jamming with Ozzy Osbourne was amazing. In general sound quality and very large and song choice is second-to-none. New and improved customizable avatar was a nice addition. Overall Guitar Hero also has superb game play options co-op, face-off, battles, and several online modes.
My Drums Work! October 31, 2008 Jeff C. (Seattle) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
After seeing so many reviews stating that the drums have a problems I went and examined mine very closely. There is a self fix post on here that talks about how some sensors are not placed in the correct places, mainly on the cymbals. I took mine apart and was relieved to see that mine were correct and seem to play fine. Fixing them, if there is a problem, doesn't seem too tricky. Yes, I realize that would void a warranty, but the wait to replace time would drive me nuts. The game is very solid. I play quitar mainly and have a wireless RB and GH quitar. I prefer the Guitar Hero guitars. The new version of the quitar seems to be an improvement over both the quitars I have. I seem to have a easier time hitting the quick sequences. I also have RB1 and 2, and to be honest, I prefer playing as a band using RB2 more than GHWT. It's probably that I am just used to RB band play more. Both are enjoyable and I am really happy that the guitars and drums seem to work fine with both games. (Of course the GHWT drums have six notes so you don't use the orange cymbal when playing RB's. Downloadable contect really makes both games, and at the moment RB2 is way ahead. I hope that this competition between the two games continues because it sure seems like the gamer will benefit. In all if pressed I would take RB2 over GHWT but luckily I don't have to choose and I can have both. With either game you can't go wrong, they both are great fun. Good luck all on getting a working set of drums or fixing them.
