The Bodum Pavina glasses are beautiful. Each one is mouth-blown to form a clear one-piece glass chamber that holds your drink. Since it's clear, your drink appears to be floating in the glass. Cool point #1.
Cool point #2 especially for those of you living in hot places: It doesn't sweat. You know what I mean here? When you put really cold liquid in a glass and condensation runs down the outside and collects in a puddle at the bottom of the glass. That looks attractive on a Coke or Beer commercial, but not great for your desk or nice table!
Cool point #3: You can put hot drinks in the Bodum Pavina and the glass doesn't get hot. Because of the double-wall construction there's an insulated layer of air between the glass you touch and the glass that holds your coffee. Like a plastic thermal mug it stays warm a long time (also cold when you pour in something cold), but it's oh so beautiful.
Now to address some user complaints. Users have universally complemented the design and "cool" factor of the glasses, but some complained about them breaking. I've been using mine all day, everyday for 2 weeks [UPDATE: I finally broke one in May 2007, 14 months after writing this review]. I start with cold water in the morning, followed by hot coffee. More water later. Some ice coffee or a Coke in the afternoon. All fine. It's thin, but tough glass. However, you've got to be sensible: just because the company says it CAN be washed in the dishwasher, doesn't mean you should. Throwing rock-hard ice into a glass and then stirring briskly with a tablespoon just isn't smart! How tough are these glasses? From readers' comments not as tough as a regular heavy drinking glass but with a little caution they are plenty strong enough.
The Bodum Pavina are the functionally perfect drinking glass that so beautifully shows off your drink. Now you can drink with all your senses!

My husband and I got two of these because they looked interesting... we ended up loving them so much we soon bought another set of two. They keep drinks cold or warm very well and look beautiful. We use them for tea, coffee, whiskey on the rocks, juice, milk... you name it. We have already given a set to my parents, and ordered more for other family members as Christmas presents. I have heard of people having trouble with them breaking, but even using our 4 constantly since early August, we have no breakage... just don't use a fridge ice despenser, stir really hard with a metal spoon, or put it next to anything other than plastic in the diswasher.

I now have 3 different sizes of these Bodums and love all of them. Bodum's minimalist designs are so clean and elegant. The glasses are very light which I thought would be a negative for me since I like a glass with substance. They really do keep the beverages cold or hot and these coolers are especially great because there is no condensation on the glass when it has a cold drink or a beer in it. No more rings on your desk or table from dripping water. People have criticized these glasses for being fragile. None have broken for me so far but I treat them with respect as you would an expensive wine glass. Also I avoid using ice cubes in them although I have with no damage. I also avoid banging a spoon on the rim if stirring anything in them. I have washed them in the dishwasher on the top shelf and there is no problem. This line of glasses are not for you if you have young children who are prone to slam things around or if you are in the habit of letting things pile up in your sink. Otherwise for me they are incredible and I highly recommend them both for usefulness and aesthetics.

These glasses are perfect for coffee drinking. The glass stays cooler than the typical coffee mug and the dark contrast of the coffee looks fantastic floating in the inner wall.

These glasses feel extremely light and delicate, and I have to admit I was a little leery the first time I poured fresh hot coffee into one, but they can take the heat and the cold. Although they are double walled I don't think the space in between is a vaccuum and of course the top is wide open - both of these things reduces the thermal insulation quality. But the double walled feature really stands out in two areas: the outer wall stays close to room temperature so you will not burn your fingers with hot drinks, and there's no problem setting the glass directly on any surface since there is no external condensation. As far as looks go these are very cool! I've been looking for a set of glasses that I really like for years, and these fit the bill.
