Product Description The Bodum Assam double-walled iced beverage glass can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage be it hot tea or aperitif. With its double layer of glass it appears as though the liquid is "floating" within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. The Assam double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed.Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Boro
Amazon.com Review At last, an iced tea glass that won't turn your hand to ice. Two walls of clear glass with an air layer in-between not only keep drinks cold--or hot--but prevent condensation from forming on the outside. So, a brisk Long Island tea or steamy Irish coffee feels just right, no matter the temperature. And coasters won't be needed, either. Winner of the prestigious European iF Design Award, the mouth-blown Assam glass exhibits Bodum's flair for the modern. Each 8-3/4-inch glass rises straight up like a tumbler, then flares at the top to a diameter of 3-3/4 inches. Mouth-blown of borosilicate glass, which is quite a bit thinner yet much more durable than regular glass, the two 20-ounce Assam glasses in this set are safe for both the microwave and dishwasher, resist temperature swings, and resist scratching and dulling. Care should be taken when placing ice cubes in an empty glass, and metal spoons for stirring are discouraged. --Ann Bieri Editor's Note: Because each glass is mouth-blown, each one may have slight differences in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. You should also avoid using metal spoons or placing the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

Perfect in a humid climet July 5, 2007 Texas Red (Dallas,, Tx USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had the Ice Tea glasses for a few months now and love them. Living in a high humidity area and disliking plastic glasses these have been the perfect answer. Reading what others said about ice I have had no problems putting in a 1/2 glass of liquid and then adding ice and the rest of the liquid. I wash them on the top shelf of the dishwasher with no problem. We love them so much I just ordered more.
SO FAR SO GOOD November 27, 2008 Shelly Dee (Central Florida) If I had read the reviews prior to purchase I might not have bought these glasses. But now I have 8. Ha! (I tend to buy all the colors of "whatever" also. Bad habit.) Anyhow, the glasses are beautiful and I washed half of them in the upper level of the dishwasher, half by hand, and all came out fine. I WILL, however, take heed to those who have had these break ... especially good idea is putting the liquid in before adding some ice cubes. I love nice glassware and so it's worth it to me to have a non-dripper that looks as good as these glasses do.
Great but not for Kids or the Clumsy May 19, 2006 Antigone Walsh 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
These glasses are great but not for kids or the clumsy. As billed they keep the beverage inside at the apropriate temperature without either freezing or burning your hands. They are light and atractive and very comfortable to hold. However, they are delicate so care must be taken when washing. All in all they provide a handsome and helpful addition to one's glassware.
Fragile but lovely February 18, 2006 Glady Christenson (Pahoa, HI, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If these are still in one piece when you receive them (my first ones weren't, but amazon.com promptly sent out a replacement order which arrived unbroken), they are great to use. They look lovely and feel good in your hand. The shape makes it unlikely they'll slip out of your hand. Don't throw your coasters away, however, as you'll have condensation if you put ice in your beverages.
Great but very easy to break. August 30, 2006 Connie (albany, ga United States) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought these for my mother's birthday because she has always liked double walled cups; unfortunately they weren't out of the box 5 minutes before one was broke and what a shame considering the cost!!
