Lot of stuff for the price January 2, 2009 Larry Fasnacht (Omaha, NE United States) I bought this for a trip to Hawaii where I knew I was going to be spending a lot of time on the airplane. It worked fine. I have used the inverter only briefly. I have also lent this out to friends and they said it worked fine for them. This is actuallly two items in one offer. Like I said lot of stuff for the price.
Works great, but gets very hot May 30, 2008 David Lichterman (Seattle, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This power supply worked just fine for me on various occasions, until I lost it in a move. The only issue with this adapter that I've had is that it does get very hot, hot enough to melt the plastic in which they provide those pillows and blankets. I'm trying out a more powerful adapter I found at Costco for about the same price. If you don't have a Costco membership or you need one fast, I'd definitely recommend this.
It works, but not for what I needed it to do December 9, 2008 Iain Saxton (Eagle, CO United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read the review about it not working I was a little skeptical but I went ahead and bought it anyway. I was travelling internationally on both a United Airlines flight and an SAS flight so I wanted something that would keep me going the whole journey. On the first flight in United First Class (Domestic) I plugged it into the seat (with great difficulty it was very tight) and the green light came on (Great, it's working I thought). I then plugged in my laptop. After 2 seconds the light went out, 2 more seconds it came back on again. This repeated constantly (along with my IBM Thinkpad bleeping every time it got and lost power). I had to give up as I was worried it would damage my battery having only 2 second bursts of power. What I discovered is that this device is rated for 75w output with a peak output of 100w. Well my IBM Thinkpad is a 90w output so it consumes the peak and then its safety cuts out. It then resets, hence the on/off I experienced. On the SAS flight, I discovered their seats has 2 prong outlets so I could plug my laptop directly into the outlet and therefore did not need this device. I thought all is not lost at least I have a car outlet that I can use with my regular cell phone charger. But unfortunately the main adapter is so long and bulky (about 6 inches) that it won't fit in my cigarette lighter. So in summary, it worked but only if your laptop or device is 75w or less and as long as your car cigarette lighter is in a location that is unobstructed above it.
PowerLine - don't buy it! May 19, 2008 C. Kane 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Used my Powerline Inverter the first time on a 747 in a First class seat yesterday. The unit did not work in my Empower seat outlet, nor did it in any others in First class. The connection fit in the socket, so it wasn't that. I tried every possible way to adjust the connection - no luck. The green button on the inverter never lit up. What a waste of $20. Guess I'll go buy a Kensington now.
