Have fun playing; forget Starforce June 29, 2006 Steve Kowalski (Indio, CA) 13 out of 19 found this review helpful
I too was wary about Starforce at first, but most of what you read about this copy protection is overblown rumors. It does not "drain CPU power," damage your computer, or any of that nonsense. The people who hate Starforce are either ignorant, responding in knee-jerk fashion to issues they don't understand, or pirates who'd rather not have to purchase the game. Rush for Berlin is an incredibly well-done game with great graphics and fun gameplay. There are 4 campaigns with optional and secret objectives, and 5 multiplayer modes, making for a lot of replay with this title. Try the demo before you buy, both single and multiplayer, and see if you agree.
Nice gameplay and great graphics June 20, 2006 William Cuthbertson 13 out of 17 found this review helpful
I was fearful of getting the same experience with the Starforce software that the other reviewers mention but went ahead with this game anyway because of postive industry reviews. It does seem somewhat unstable (I've had two crashes to the desktop in only a few hors play), but overall I enjoy the gameplay and graphics of Rush for Berlin. (There's an every-five-minutes autosave feature which alleviates some of the anxiety you might fear about a CTD in the middle of your game.) Especially nice to this RTS game is the ability to tilt the view to get a better view of the horizon than most RTS engines allow. Pacing is good, and I'm surprised that despite an older graphics card (GeForce Ti 4400) that this game looks as sharp as it does with rich textures and consistent frame rates. I'm pleased with the purchase overall and would recommend the game. [Edit: Since I wrote this review in June, (it's now September) the game has been patched a couple of times, incresing the performance of the game quite a bit. I haven't had a game crash since the second patch. Also, there are some nice unlockable campaigns: German and French.]
StarForce!!! June 15, 2006 RPG Lover (Silex MO USA) 19 out of 24 found this review helpful
This game has StarForce copy protection, which is software that you do not want on your computer. Reportedly, it replaces your CD and/or DVD drivers, and often causes extreme hardware and software problems. I've been a victim of the software problems, it basically crippled my very expensive SCSI scanners and it was extremely difficult to figure out what was doing it. It could be the best game that's ever been produced, but anyone who's had the StarForce experience is going to steer clear.
This game has software on it that can damage a computer. June 19, 2006 Epicles 13 out of 26 found this review helpful
Starforce is a copy protection system, that comes with this game. Starforce, once installed, drains the CPU power of your computer, damaging performance, and hurting your Frame rates. It also slows down overall speed. Starforce cannot be removed, and if removed, will install every time your restart the game. Starforce is a dangerous program, and games containing it, should not be bought.
Stay Clear of This Software !!! June 17, 2006 Maryland Consumer (Maryland) 10 out of 21 found this review helpful
I wish I had seen the first review before purchasing and loading this on my system. It never worked correctly after multiple installs and hosed my system.
