FreeTime Takes Up All My Free Time! March 4, 2008 Benjamin Roberts (Louisville, KY United States) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I picked up Sims2 FreeTime last Thursday, and if I hadn't created a Sim that looked like my wife, I probably would have forgotten what she looked like. There is something postmodern about being up at 1:30 AM on a Thursday night with your wife saying, "Come on, put the game away", while a Sim that looks like your wife makes hand gestures at a Sim that looks like you who is playing The Sims 3 on HIS computer. FreeTime allows you to have enjoyable hobbies, often with things you were doing already, such as cooking, working out, watching movies, etc. Now, those tasks translate into cuisine, fitness, or film and literature. All your sims will enjoy at least one of these activities more than the others, which will allow them to have more fun and do more activities. If your sim is really into cuisine, he'll enjoy cooking and watching the cooking channel, but he'll be able to do other things such as read cooking magazines, blog about cooking, talk to other Sims about cooking, get a membership in a cooking club, enter a cooking competition, and more. Your sims may also enjoy sewing, pottery, etc. They can work on old broke down cars. And the expansion pack adds some items that will be familiar to those who enjoyed the first Sims game, including a basketball hoop, the hobby train, and the genie in the bottle (who grants three wishes!) Novel writing is better than before as well. Your Sim can sit down to write his novel, and select plot points, the cover, etc. When the novel arrives and Sims read the novel, the plot points of the novel will appear over their heads in thought bubbles. There are cool new career paths, as well. There is Oceanographer, with a Koi pond as the reward; an Intelligence Agent with a listening device reward; Entertainer with a Walk of Fame star; Architect with a drafting table reward; or dancer with a ballet bar reward. Another great feature is the ability to take up to 3 friends with you as you age. That way, your Sim doesn't become an old man while the girl he shared his first kiss with remains a teenager in high school. FreeTime may not be the absolute best expansion pack to date, but it will definitely take up YOUR free time.
another hit June 6, 2008 J. Walker (Ney York, City) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Once again, The Sims have hooked us with another interesting aspect to Sim life. Sims can do different activities, such as using binoculars to look for birds, study nature, fix cars, shoot hoops, kick a soccer ball, do science experiments and then inform us which activity they liked best, therefore letting us know which hobby they like best. You can work on that hobby, opening up secret lots, where they can do more. For example, a Sim who likes to cook can enter a cooking contest, a Sim who likes to dance, a dance contest. More jobs, of course and more fun items to buy. Worth the money!
FreeTime Rocks! April 19, 2008 K. Ryborz (Diamond Bar, CA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Sims 2: FreeTime - Rocks!!! It's cute seeing their new hobby aspirations to fufill -- Currently my sim couple have the "NATURE" and "MUSIC AND DANCE" aspiration so in example I spend my time fuffilling their aspiration for Nature: Hunting bugs, Birdwatching, Gardening, Interacting with Pets, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also love that they can use their computers now to "blog about" or "browse the web" for their aspiration. As for my "MUSIC AND DANCE" sim - you can usually find him at the ballet bar, playing the many musical instruments throught sims previous expansions and freetime (guitar, drums, violin, piano, karaoke, dance with someone) Sims Free Time is really cute, lots of new places to visit, and more life-like activities for them to get into literature, arts and crafts, sports, culinary. It's been a great expansion, kudos to EA GAMES --- the only con -- i noticed my game crashes alot for the "GAMING ASPIRATION" -- or when they visit the gaming hobby lot. Wierd.... Otherwise, I say if you didnt get this expansion, don't sleep on it. it's really cute!!!
Great Game April 26, 2008 Ashley (Ohio, USA!) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Now the Sims can become even more realistic by having hobbies! Each Sim has a pre-picked hobby they enjoy. Some hobbies include: music and dance, sports, arts and crafts, nature, science, cusisine and tinkering. Now you can build trainboards (caution can kill Sims!), restore cars, hunt bugs, make pottery, you can now have secondary aspirations, and discover secret lots. Alot of fun, makes your Sims more unique! Pretty fun
another great release from the folks at EA games May 24, 2008 MetalheadMissy74 (Canton,Ny 13617) This is a fun game expansion. There's so much for our little sim friends to do . From sewing, pottery, sports , cooking classes, restorable cars. The sims they've gone on vacation , They went on dates, They had gardens and they had seasons and pets etc. This really helped round out things. I am looking foreward to any more expansion packs for the sims 2 that may becoming out including the apartment life and ikea stuff. However one draw back to this pack was in my opinion there could of been more sports. throwing the football, catching baseball okay but how bout the actual games and leagues and stuff would fo been nice specially for our teen sims. I wish there would of been golf but those are small drawbacks they don't spoil the outcome or fun of the game. My fave is the cooking competitions feels like the iron chef almost. I also like the Nature hobby collecting bugs and bird watching . The thing to say bout this pack if is you own every single pack and stuff pack like I do this kind of helps adds more to each of those. I would defintily recommend having all the expansion packs first then getting this one to add to each of them for example this works well with open for buisiness, and seasons, bon voyage etc. It would be good to have with the base game but not as fun then with the other expansion packs .
