kinda short but really good November 4, 2008 B. Drueke 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I figured that with all the people pissing and moaning about the EA security software, someone would actually like to hear about the game itself. It's short, but it's still a really fun game. The game is the "special mission" Psycho is given in Crysis right after you blow the carrier as Nomad and right before the Tank level. The story is pretty good, a little weaker then the first but doesn't have as many holes in it. You'll just have to play it to find out what I mean. There are new toys to play with: Weapons: FGL40 grenade launcher which has two firing modes; impact detonation and remote detonation, AY69 MMG hand gun which can replace your pistol but it rides up like the SMG so it's difficult to use and the PAX (I don't remember what it stands for), a very nice gun that's a slow reload but unlimited ammo and boy does have a kick to it. It can take out the little mini drones with one shot. Vehicles: ASV armored vehicle and a hovercraft. Grenades: the FGL40 has an EMP and a frag grenade. As for throwing grenade; we now have a claymore mine (those are really fun), AT (anti-tank) land mine (it blows the Humvees and everything else in a 15 foot radius sky high) and a "nanogrenade" - it's an EMP type grenade that disables nanosuits (the KPA has the suits and grenades too, so watch out because there are more of them in warhead then in crysis). There is also a new turret, anti-vehicle, it's slow but pretty powerful. The graphics are as breathtaking as the original, even on the lowest settings. The sound is great too, the only thing is it isn't the same guy who does the voice for Psycho but it's another London accent (think Jason Statham's accent) so it's not too bad. You also get what's called "Crysis Wars", it's its own disk of a multi-player game. I haven't installed it but from what the booklet says i figure it's alot like Halo, you can play online or play in a LAN (Local Area Network) party. There is a death match game and power struggle game. Power struggle is like king of the hill, play as US or KPA. Sounds fun but I don't have anyone to play with. If you want a long, "keep you on the edge of your seat game", this may not be what you're looking for. But for someone that likes FPSs or just want something to do while your bored, this is a great game.
Game Review December 30, 2008 J. Jorgenson (Corona, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Aside from the horrid DRM debacle which EA now says it will not use any longer through Valve's Steam I must say this is an awesome expansion. Crysis Warhead is much shorter than the original Crysis but Crytek addressed all the short comings of the first title and made this a killer. Not only is the storyline solid but the game play is more intense and never really lets you down for a minute. With optimized code and even sharper graphics this game will keep you playing until the ending credits. With Crytek saying Crysis will be a trilogy this is a nice segue into the sequel whenever that comes out. If you can get over the DRM thing then give this title a try. All the industry reviewers give it very high marks for a reason. Who knows maybe down the road a ways EA will release a patch in conjunction with Crytek which will nullify the DRM this title initially came with.
More of the same (but still great) November 5, 2008 Bebe Deimos (AZ, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you have already played Crysis, there is not much new here. Instead of playing as Nomad, you play this game as Psycho, another of the special team deployed to the island. However, the game is very well done and has less of a goal-oriented play style, which allows a bit more freedom to do things as you like instead of how the game designers intended. Overall, I would say this game is definitely worth playing if you loved Crysis and want some more of it. P.S.: I know that a lot of people have complained about the DRM mechanism used in this game, but I personally had absolutely no problems with it. In addition, it was convenient to be able to play the game without having to search for the disc everytime someone pulled it out of the drive.
Excellent Continuation of the First Game November 23, 2008 Whatha 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first game Crysis leaves you with a movie sequence showing Nomad, Psycho and Dr. Rosenthal heading back to the island to continue the fight. When I saw that I was ready for more action, but sadly that is where the game ended. Enter Crysis Warhead, continuing the story line, but now from Psycho's perspective - the British member of Raptor squad. Overall, excellent story line and missions I enjoyed every minute of it even after playing it twice through on Delta difficulty. In Crysis Warhead there are new explosive you can use to blow up enemy vehicles and a few new weapons to fire. The main draw for me was the story line and the action. A definite must have for any FPS gamer. Whatha "What the ... " Sev - Delta 07 Crysis Warhead
Another Great Crysis Adventure December 21, 2008 Obadiah (Middleton, WI USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
One of my favorite games. This follow up to the original Crysis simply does not disappoint. I don't like DRM, but I had no issue with it. If I put millions at risk along with my creativity, I would not want the efforts of my labor stolen by pirates, either in the US or elsewhere. PC games are at critical mass because developers lose a lot of revenue by those who pirate software. I, for one, do not want to be left playing dumbed-down console games. Crysis Warehead was a great gaming experience.
