Perfectly functioning pull-up bar June 24, 2007 John Cardwell 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've had my Everlast pull-up bar for over a month now. In short, coming from someone who's been doing pull-up workouts routinely for the last 3 years, its everything it is supposed to be. A great product, as advertized. My pull-up bar shipped promptly and was packed in an additional external box, thereby protecting the actual product box as well as keeping the object of my purchase 'private'. The pieces were all present and in new condition, as well as all of the required nuts and screws. Contrary to what some reviewers have reported, ALL of the nuts and screws fit perfectly. Some of the screws had a unique, rubber coating on the inside of the nut - this allows for a much tighter, more secure connection thus increasing the longevity of the device. The instructions (as well as the quantity) clearly indicate where those special nuts are to be used. It fits my door-frame perfectly; the inner space between my door-frame measures 30 inches. So I guess from outer-edge to outer-edge that makes my door-frame about 34 inches. The instructions were very, very clear and complete assembly took me about 10-15 minutes. The instructions say that the device holds up to 300 lbs. Through the use of a weight-vest I've tested it to 200 lbs without any problem or anything to make me think that the device couldn't withstand at least another 50 lbs. The instructions include a toll-free number for you to call and, if need be, request a replacement set of nuts and screws, FREE of charge. That's nice. Additionally, there's a 1 year product warranty (from the date of purchase, so keep that receipt) for repairs or replacement, free of charge, in the event of a defect in materials or workmanship. I have not attempted to use it for sit-ups or pushups - so I can't attest to its functionality in those uses, however for pull-ups/chin-ups it is more than adequate and I can see this device lasting for well over a year; longer if it doesn't get thrown around, played on, or otherwise abused/misused. Fantastic product. It is a bargain. I just bought a second one for my friend right before starting this review. :) Thank you Everlast & Amazon. If I could recommend a pull-up workout routine to you, it would be the "Armstrong Pullup Program". (Type that into google, the program is free :)) It took me from 12 pullups to 21 in just under 2 months. I found that taking 3-4 days rest period was better for me than just the 2 days in a weekend.
Nice product, easy assembly March 19, 2006 Lucas V. Logan (Lafayette, LA) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
The people complaining about the assembly obviously don't know how to use a socket wrench. All the parts are there, and they all fit in easy. The instruction manual doesn't tell you that you need a socket wrench, though. Use a 13/32" and a 7/16" bit, one for the screw and one for the nut. After the assembly, it's smooth sailing. Incredible product, very diverse. Beats the heck out of those cheap bars with the big chunks of metal you have to screw into your wall and mess up your house with.
Complete workout for the time constrained October 8, 2005 Michael Miller (Melrose, MA USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great, quick, all in one contraption. It doesn't require any holes or extra modifications to the doorway. I do chinups, pushups, handstand pushups, and sit-ups with it, which covers most of the upper body. Just do some neck bridges and some bodyweight squats or hindu squats and you've got a complete whole body workout. It leaves a slight mark from the black foam cushions, but I'm sure they could be wiped off. Again, a good buy for somebody with limited time and money.
Definitely worth the money August 2, 2005 David H. (Atlanta, GA) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a great product because it allows you to quickly get a mini workout at home, with little equipment. It hangs over the doorway, does not mess up your trim boards, and is very sturdy. The padded grips allow several different hand positions during pull ups and push ups. Sit ups...ehh, its not the greatest for, it will hold your feet for you, but nothing great. My only complaint was that they included some wrong bolts and washers to attach the wood piece, so I went to Lowe's and bought 2 bolts for $0.30. I love it, I can get a couple sets of pull-ups or push-ups in during a commercial and if I can't make it to the gym, I don't feel as guilty.
Great product! Instructions for assembly were easy. September 29, 2006 K. Goings (Gilbert, Arizona United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Many different exercises to do besides the ones they show you in the manual. Took maybe 5 minutes to put together and the instuctions were very easy to understand. It clearly defined which different screws went where. Great purchase!
