Nice February 7, 2008 Ron (Jersey) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This was a pleasant surprise when I first got it. A battery powered trimmer that actually had some zip to it. It certainly won't go through heavy brush, but it is good for basic lawn maintenance. A full charged battery lasts a long time. Just in case it is not enough they give you an extra one. If you have any of the other many Black N Decker 18 Volt cordless products, these batteries work in all of them. I haven't had any problems with the trimmer so far. Certainly my old gas powered on was more powerful, but with the gas and oil and the maintenance required, this cordless version is a pleasure to use. This is a terrific product if you are just edging and trimming your lawn.
I love this trimmer! April 17, 2006 Orpharion (San Diego, CA USA) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
If you're tired of 'bumping' the string, breathing in noxious fumes, and dealing with cans of gasoline and oil for the typical gas trimmer, then the cordless Black & Decker 12" Grasshog is the way to go. I bought two trimmers from Amazon. The first was the 9" Grasshog, and the second was the 12" Grasshog. The 12" Grasshog model is the definite winner. It is lighter, comes with 2 batteries that charge in 6 hours, and it cuts a larger swath through grass and tall weeds. The key to making this trimmer even better is to buy a dual 18 volt charger. That way you can trim in the morning, wait for the batteries to recharge, and trim in the late afternoon or evening. I also bought 2 additional X-Treme batteries and a second dual charger to go even longer.
GREAT, EASY!! June 1, 2007 TheCommish16 (US) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
No more dragging 200 feet of extension cord out when it's time to do some yard trimming. This thing is light weight, strong enough for moderate trimming, and no gas or cords to deal with. It's much like a cordless screwdriver or drill, use it, plug it back in...use it again. It's the ease of it all that makes it a winner. If you plan on taking down HEAVY brush etc...go for the cord, but for maintenance around the yard...this is it!
Fantastic and easy July 14, 2004 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I bought this for my father who is approaching 70 years old. It is very light and very easy to use. We have burmada on our lawn. The first time we used it, there was a lot of growth so it took three batteries to finish his lot. I do have to point out that he had very bad technique. After I showed him a better way to do it, it worked more efficiently and now if he or I use it once a week, I may be able to get by with one battery. Because it inverts, I can do 40 feet in about 30 seconds, if you edge frequently and don't have massive growth. Just don't push it too close to anything you are try to get rid of, it slows it down and it doesn't work properly and the line won't come out. It has a 12inch area so remember to utilize that. I've also have edge and trimmed the yard 9 times this summer already and I still haven't used the spool of line yet. With our gas one the work would take about 45 minutes and I would have sore back from the extra weight. Now I complete my work in less than 15 minutes. This has been a pleasure to use.
Great grooming tool May 16, 2005 M. SMITH (Southern Texas) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
If you have a well-kept yard, this is a great tool for touching up around trees, structures, and foundations after mowing. It's also very handy for maintaining edging around beds. As others point out, the batteries last about 10-minutes each -- not much time. But, for light, touch-up work, the 20-minutes total is ample. This trimmer certainly won't serve as a brush-clearing tool. However, for residential manicuring, it's the ultimate in practicality.
