We like this item - soothes bug bites, poison ivy itches, and much more for my family. We use it on the kids. It's great and doesn't sting like normal products for bug bites. Works great on chigger bites too! We've also used the itch-stopper. This is a less expensive product that does the same, and is lighter and more convenient to carry in the beach bag or backpack. I would purchase this item again! LOVE IT!! (Works with your body to make the bug bites stop itching. Works for about 24 hours, and then you use it again. Safe and works great!)

I have tried several of these devices for insect bites and can testify that they work, and although the heat is unpleasant you only apply it for 20 or 30 seconds max. If you find it too much you can try moving the device across the site of the bite rather than leaving it on.
I have not found anything else that does the trick. And this is safe, no drugs, no creams, and instant.
If you apply the device immediately after being bitten the itch may never return, certainly it will disappear for 8 to 12 hours allowing a good night's sleep and then re-application. Cat flea bites will in my case itch unbearably and intermittently for several days without treatment, but with the device they calm immediately, preventing scratching and secondary infection. I always it with me if I go away overnight.

However, the devices often also claim to work on eczema and psoriasis and I am more dubious about these claims.

Itch Soother burned quite a bit during application but I managed to hold it on for quite awhile and it still proved to be of no assistance in reducing the itching or swelling in a brand new mosquito bite. All I got was a red mark the size of the metal application oval. The bite did not go away any faster and did not reduce the swelling at all. Great concept just didn't work.Probably better off getting some hydrocortisone cream and calling it a day.

It was cheap so I didn't expect much.
Frankly it just didn't work to stop the itching. I suspect the hot end just doesn't get hot enough and it takes too long to heat.
you're better off with an anti-histamine cream.
Using a heated knive blade did work, but it was too easy to over-heat and burn yourself!

Why waste your money on this? Use the opposite method. Apply a cold compress or just get ice (wrapped in ziploc bag and a thin handkerchief) and apply it to the bite. Immediate relief (numbness), reduces swelling and the bite disappears!
