Amazon.com Product Description
Keep your sports training focused with the stylish Timex T5E231 Ironman Triathlon multi-function, performance sport digital watch, which features a dark gray resin top ring sitting upon a metallic silver case and top pusher for easy access to split and lap times. Sport timing features include a 100-hour chronograph with lap or split option, 100-lap memory recall, 199 lap counter, on-the-fly recall of lap or split, and interval timers settable up to 24 hours (9 timers with countdown/stop and countdown/repeat). The training log stores workouts by date, with best lap, average lap, and total segment time, and the total run format/synchro timer maintains total activity time (less time paused during workout and overall running time. Other features include two time zones, built-in setting reminders, water resistance to 100 meters, and a black resin strap.

It incorporates the Timex Flix system, which activates the Indiglo night-light with a simple flick of your wrist. To activate FLIX, put the watch into Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button 3 seconds until it beeps. With the watch in Night-Mode, a forward "flick" of the wrist with a sharp "stop" will activate the Indiglo night-light for three seconds.

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function.

5 out of 5 stars For my purposes, still the best all-around digital watch out there   December 21, 2007

I've had various incarnations of the Timex Ironman watches over the years. They take a beating and have great functionality. To me, this model has about the best practical value overall, being rather feature-laden without being overcomplicated. One distinct value of this watch over the "sleek" and similar models, is that it does NOT have an integrated band. Sure, integrated bands look cool, but if you wear the watch daily the band will start to break down after about a year and then you have to send it back to Timex for a new band. Not so with this watch. New users will have to take a little time to figure out the various functions of the watch, but once you get the idea, operation is very logical. The stopwatch is great for training, having more laps at your disposal than you're ever likely to need, multiple timers and alarms, and two time zones. These are also useful for training, but also just useful in general life (moreso than you'd think). In all, a solid choice for a digital sports watch, and an excellent value considering Amazon's prices. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great digital watch   March 26, 2007

I've had it for only a couple of weeks - bought it at a certain nationwide store that has a crosshair symbol as the emblem - and then accidentally saw this page on Amazon, so I thought I'd review it.

It's very comfortable as another review said.
It looks great. At first, I was a little self conscious about wearing this big thing when I first got it home and tried it on, but come to think of it, it's not that much bigger than my Seiko diver's

I'd highly recommend it. Defintely happy with it, even though I won't be using most of the many features on it.

( But I'd sure like a watch with multiple timers one of these days. Even though I sometimes use the multiple Alarms on this thing, having multiple *timers* is way more useful to me, since I like to have a timer for 40 min for a lot of the things I cook, and another timer always set at 25 min to get the clothes in the washer, and then a couple of other timers always available for whatever comes up)

5 out of 5 stars great sports watch   September 11, 2007

This is a great sports watch that is easy and intuitive to use. The interface is such that I picked up this watch and within a few minutes had figured out nearly all of the functionality. This watch has five clocks, a single shot timer, an interval timer with nine slots, a 100-lap/split chronograph and multiple alarms. The interval timer is a very nice feature and is excellent for timed interval workouts (i.e. 1 minute effort, two minutes rest, etc.) The chronograph works simultaneously with the timers, so that is nice. The face has large, easily visible characters and the FLIX system is very nice - you can turn on the Indiglo light with just a flick of the wrist.

The only minor nitpick I have (and this may be my failing) is that I can't figure out how to change which of the five clocks is shown by default - it always seems to show clock 1 and pressing the split button cycles you through the clocks. Really this is only a problem if you travel between different time zones a lot.

Overall, this watch exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Another Great Timex Product   July 17, 2008

My husband is VERY picky about the watches he uses to time his swim laps. The lap button has to be just-so, the right size in the right location. This watch fits the bill perfectly, and he can time 100 laps, splits for interval training, and everything else he wants to keep statistics on. Looks good, too!

5 out of 5 stars What's not to like?   October 31, 2007

I read other people's reviews before buying my Timex and as in all things in life, everyone has their opinion. One of the things I found preposterous were the comments about the band. It's designed to be secure on your wrist. The fact that the small loop kind of "locks" in the strap is a good thing. Some people complained that it was too hard to undo. I do it everyday with one hand and could do so blindfolded. If you can't get the strap undone without breaking a sweat, one handed or two, I would suggest you never leave the house because you are uncoordinated to the point of being dangerous. The large numerals on the face have also been criticized which is also a mystery to me. It simply makes reading the pertinent data easy and fast with no guess work and with a quick look. I also like the fact that it is so light that I'm not even aware of wearing it which is very good in a a sports watch. The ONLY negative I have is that you have to hit the "Stop" button twice when in interval mode and the time you want to stop on corresponds to the interval itself. Not a big deal. I hit the stop button twice in succession. It's a fine product that does what it's supposed to.
