Amazon.com Product Description This analog/digital Casio Waveceptor men's atomic watch (WVA430DA-1AV) combines powerful style with technologically advanced timepiece features. It's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--so you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. A great choice for your active lifestyle, this watch includes a 1/100 second stopwatch that can measure up to 100 hours, and it offers elapsed time, split/lap time, and 1st/2nd place timing features. It's stylishly appointed with a sleek stainless steel bracelet band that tapers slightly as it winds around the wrist. The dark gray dial face includes luminous-tipped silver triangle markers, luminous sword-shaped hands (with red seconds hand), minute indexes with small Arabic numeral hour marks around the outer edge of the dial, and a digital display at the bottom. Digital timing features, in addition to the stopwatch, include three daily alarms world time for 29 time zones/30 cities, 12/24-hour time, and auto-calendar programmed to 2039. The AfterGlow LED electro luminescent backlight provides easy readability in low-light conditions. Other features include a power-saving function (turns display off when in the dark), battery power indicator, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. This radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from Fort Collins, Colorado, and signal reception is possible within a radius of about 2,000 miles from the Fort Collins transmitter. You can choose to automatically receive this signal five times a day, or manually update the Waveceptor to the atomic clock.

Attractive, feature-laden watch stands up to moderate use September 27, 2006 R. C. Rauch 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This was my second purchase from Casio's Wave Ceptor "Tough Solar" line. Like the first (WVA430DA-2A2V), this one has performed extremely well. It never fails to receive the nightly sync signal. The dual time zones and 5 alarms are handy when needed, and I don't miss the hassle of replacing the battery. After a year and a half of wearing it an average of 2-3 days per week and inadvertently ramming it into a door jamb or wall a few times, there are some light scratches on the crystal. But, unless you're looking for them, they're not noticeable. All told, it's held up very well. Other than those very minor scratches, it remains as beautiful and functional as it was when brand new. At this point, the stainless steel case shows no wear at all; the band and clasp bear the expected scratches from use. The clasp's spring-loaded, pushbutton release still works perfectly and has never released accidentally. My only caveat would be if you place a priority on seeing your watch in the dark, you might be disappointed with this one; the lighted digital display is rather small and dim, and you'll need to push more buttons if you want to see both the time *and* date. So, when nighttime use is important, I'd recommend instead any of Casio's all-digital atomic solar models. Many of them, such as the MTG900DA-8V, can be configured to light up automatically whenever you turn your wrist to look at it. So, if nighttime use is not a high priority, you should be as pleased as I am with this watch.
Amazing Watch September 18, 2005 Ibochild (Los Angeles, CA USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The minute I took the watch outside of the box it set the time automatically to Eastern time! If you live outside of the Eastern time zone, all you have to do is push a couple of buttons and it moves instantly to your time zone. Isn't atomic timekeeping great? Another neat feature of this watch is that you have a choice of both analog and digital displays. The digital display can also give you day and date, stopwatch, an alarm as well as an alternate time zone for traveling. The watch is also solar powered, so you don't have to worry about replacing batteries. Just make sure to keep it in the sunlight every once in a while. I do however have a minor complaint. There are no instructions on how to adjust the metal wristband. Rather than try to figure it out myself, I took it to a jeweler and had her adjust it for a few dollars. From the looks of things, I'm glad I had a professional do it anyway.
Best. Watch. Ever. December 21, 2006 Eric (Denver, CO USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My wife bought me this watch for our first anniversary and I wore it pretty much every day for 2 1/2 years. It is, without a doubt, the best watch I've ever owned. It has always been accurate, never misses a nightly update and it's awesome that it never needs batteries. If you're a freak about knowing the right time like I am, it's great to always know your watch is correct to sub-second accuracy. After 2 1/2 years of daily wear there was barely a hint use. The crystal was amazingly resistant to scratches and the band's burnished finish hides bumps and dents exceptionally well. I'm speaking in the past tense because the watch was my 18mo old daughter's favorite toy (water resistance to 10 bars is a *big* plus) and the goto item to placate her in a restaurant or the car. Well, I haven't seen it in 3 weeks and we're pretty sure she "stored" it in the kitchen trash the last time she was playing with it, as that seems to be her newest depository for small play items. Anyway, I have a birthday in a month and this exact watch is at the top of the list. I looked at the rest of the Waveceptor line on Casio's website, but I couldn't find one I wanted more. If you buy this watch, I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
Very Satisfied February 10, 2007 Paul M. Dubuc (Columbus, OH USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am very satisfied with this watch. Not ever having to set the time or change the battery are the two features I really wanted in an inexpensive watch. Once you set it in the sunlight for a while the battery charges full. It has had no trouble staying charged during normal wear or synchronizing with the time signal each night. The analog and digital time are synchronized, so they don't have to be set separately. This watch also looks good and is comfortable to wear. The back light for the digital display is a little too dim, but I have no trouble reading the numbers with it when it's too dark to read them without it. The watch face is fairly large (1 5/16 inches diameter, the case is 1 11/16 inches wide, 1/2 inch thick) but it fits me well and is easy to read. The controls seem much more intuitive than other digital/analog watches I've owned and the buttons are easy to press and don't stick out too much and dig into your skin. Overall this is a very well designed and made watch; well worth the money. I hope it lasts a long time. It's too bad the instruction book doesn't tell you how to resize the band. I got some clues on how to do it searching on the Internet. I took 2 links out of the band (one from each side of the clasp using only a "push pin" tack (like a thumbtack with a fingertip handle) which are pretty common. On the back of the removable links are arrows that show you the direction that the pins in the links need to be pushed out. These pins are like hair pins; open at one end with a bend in the the other. They need to be pushed back in the reverse of the way they came out with the bended end going in first. The band is easier to work on if you first remove one of the spring loaded pins that hold it to the clasp by pushing in on of the ends through the hole in the clasp with a pin.
Accurate and light weight October 21, 2006 GA (Georgia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although the watch has a substantial look, it is lightweight and easy for a jeweler to adjust the band. It says all stainless but there is a good amount of resin in the case. It set itself immediately upon taking it out of the box. I wish that the entire watch would light at night, but the digital window does. It does have numbers and hands that glow dimly in darkness. I wonder why people want mechanical mechanisms when nothing comes close to the accuracy and reliablity of atomic along with solar battery. And Amazon charged only 55 dollars. I am very pleased and recommend this timepiece.
