Product Description Seiko Stainless Black Dial Day/date Indicator Mens Watch - Seiko SGF719
Amazon.com Product Description This handsome stainless steel men's watch is the perfect blend of style and function. It features a classic-looking round black dial with three silver-colored hands and simple bar markers. The hands and markers glow brightly without drawing energy from a battery thanks to environmentally-safe Lumibrite technology. The watch has a day/date window at the three o'clock position and features a scratch-resistant Hardlex crystal and a screw-down caseback. It secures to a bracelet-style stainless steel band that fastens with a fold-over clasp. Water-resistant to 30 meters, this watch can handle splashes of water or rain, but it should not be worn while swimming or diving. It has a battery life of five years.

Beautiful! February 25, 2006 Y. Lee (Charlottesville, VA USA) 130 out of 131 found this review helpful
I just got this watch yesterday but I love it already. *UPDATE: (7/23/06): Had the watch for a few months, and I still love it. Some measurements: The watch is EXACTLY 8 mm thick. 37 mm outer diameter, but the crown sticks out 3 mm. Band is 20 mm at the watch and 18 mm all the way around. Doesn't feel too heavy, but has good weight to it -- doesn't feel cheap! I re-sized the links myself, but it was kind of a pain. The links do NOT use a standard pin mechanism. Instead, it uses little plates which are removable. You'll need some kinda pointy tool, with a tip that measures about 0.5 mm. You just push the link plate in the direction of the arrow (there's an arrow mark on each band link to help you) and it should just pop out. If you're not handy you'll definitely want to take the watch to a shop. The good news is, there's really no risk of scratching the band while performing this operation. You'll only scratch the inner "plates." The band is shiny brushed stainless steel, and has a standard clasp. No spring loaded mechanism, no safety clasp--just the plain old clasp. But I wouldn't worry about accidently releasing your clasp since it's a nice sturdy fit. In fact it requires some force to take the watch off (or put it on) but that might be because it's brand new. I plan to change the band to a black leather band, just because I don't like the weight of the metal. It should be easy because the band attatchment to the watch is a standard pin. *UPDATE: (7/23/06) - Looks great with black leather strap. The Lumibright stuff really works. Only a few minutes of light will let the little dots glow for hours. The dots are small though, so I had to put the watch near my face to read it. But that's much better than my fossil watch which stops shining in less than an hour. On the day dial, Saturday is BLUE and Sunday is RED. I like that, but it's not really advertised anywhere. Also, the daty can be set for Spanish. (I think it's spanish.. not sure?) The sideeffect is, the day will read spanish between 1~4AM. Likewise, if you set your day language as Spanish the day will read in English between 1~4am. I think the date changes from 12~1AM. Also, the day/dates are BIG and easy to read. They're not HUGE, just nice and readable. If you have normal eyesight, you won't have to squint or even hold the watch up close to read the day/date. I can easily read it whlie typing. Overall, the watch looks very plain but classy. But it's definitely not HIP. I'm 25 years old and I think it'll make me look older. In fact wearing the watch makes me FEEL older. It'll probably go well with any clothing except a T-shirt, cause I just can't imagine wearing it on the beach. The black face really makes it look "refined." The words SEIKO is rather large and it's actually raised from the watch dial face. The watch surface is highly polished SS, but the side of the watch is shiny brushed ss. The watch crystal is perfectly FLAT. Nothing is raised, there is no separate date window. It smudges easily but also cleans easily. *UPDATE: (7/23/06) - The watch's clicking noise is not loud but noticeable in a very quiet room. Can't hear it in all but silent rooms, but then again you might be able to hear it ticking when you're falling asleep. Lastely, the watch comes in a REALLY NICE blue gift box with the watch wraped around a tiny watch pillow. I think it'll be a great gift. The box is big, about 3 inches tall, 5 inches deep and 4 inches wide.
All-time great watch! January 4, 2005 Pepper (Bluegrass, KY) 136 out of 144 found this review helpful
OK, I admit it. I'm a hopeless watch junkie. I like to wear my share of divers watches, digital watches, chronographs, pilot and military watches, oversized watches, multi-function watches, if fact, any watch that's high in the coolness factor. What can I say; watches are fun. But sometimes the occasion or the mood calls for a watch that's just simple and solid. This down-to-earth Seiko is often just the one I want. I guess what I like is that it's both a classic and an up-to-date time machine. The steel band and case with a simple jet-black dial is a timeless watch design and yet it is right in sync with the contemporary look of the silver-tone, dark-face look that "everybody's wearing" in the men's watch fashion department these days. I really like the simple stick marker dial accented only by the black-on-black date window. This is a watch I don't get bored with or tired of. And for reliability, you can hardly go wrong with a Seiko. I've had this watch for a couple of years now and with its quartz accuracy, I don't think I ever have to set it except at the twice a year change to and from daylight time. My experience of owning several quartz Seikos, some for quite a few years, is that there's not a lot of maintenance other than a battery change now and then and if you need service it's easy to get. But you probably know all that. Bottom line: here's a watch that looks great and works great. Bet you'll like it as much as I do.

I worked on watches for three years, and I know Seiko watches are one of the best. I gave this watch to my fiance who said it was the nicest thing anyone has ever gotten him. It is high in quality and low in price; I got the best deal.
Nice Watch, good price January 7, 2006 C. Wagner (On the banks of the Wabash far away) 26 out of 28 found this review helpful
A good choice for an economical, atractive timepiece for personal or gift purposes. Mine arrived promptly and securely only a few days after purchase. The battery is warranteed for five years. (I just replaced a Seiko sports watch that had a battery life of thirteen years.) Attractive, hands, face, and date. On the wrist, the watch and bracelet feel solid, unlike some other economy brand pieces. Recommended.
This is a good buy October 9, 2005 C. Hou (Champaign, IL USA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 80-year-old father. He needs a watch that is not so fancy, gives very clear display of the time, and does not have so many buttons and controls. This watch fits perfectly in this category. The design of the watch is also quite elegant and nice. The price is very reasonable (cheaper than that of the same brand/type in departmental stores), considering that Seiko is a very famous brand. We love this watch so far.
