3 out of 5 stars Frightening... but functional.   August 5, 2010
Dustin Loftis (Wichita, KS USA)
First off, these ramps are rated to hold 2,000 lbs per ramp, requiring four ramps to reach the 8,000 lbs advertised limit. In case you were thinking: "My vehicle's front axle weight is such and such, and these hold this much..."

Second, I was surprised by how flimsy they feel. I placed the ramps on the down-hill incline at the end of my driveway, then drove my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 onto them. The right-hand ramp moved slightly (as evidenced by the black plastic line it left on the concrete) but held the weight of the truck. I gave the truck a thorough shoving and pulling in both directions before I considered crawling under the engine.

Though these ramps are flimsy, when crushed between the weight of a vehicle and the ground, they acquire a sort of desperate strength. I changed my oil without issue, and backed off of them with no problems. Am I concerned one of them might simply split in half like a cardboard box? Absolutely. Am I going to keep using them until they do? Indeed I am.

3 out of 5 stars Lifts the car 6.5", if you need it higher then look for something else   October 12, 2009

I use this for the occasional oil change. Its a tight squeeze for me to get under the car with these ramps as I am a bigger guy (5'10" 185lbs). It would make things a lot easier if they gave another inch or two of clearance.

From the company website ([...]) here are the specs:

Weight tolerance: 2,000 pounds per ramp or 4,000 pounds per pair.
Length: 35 inches
Width: 10.5 inches (tires should be 1 inch less than the width of the ramp)
Height: 8.5 inches total (lift height is 6.5 inches)
Incline: 17 Degrees

There are other products by another company (google search "race ramps") that raises the car 8 inches or even 10 inches but they start at $200. Its hard to justify paying another $160 on top of the price of these Rhino ramps for just and additional 1.5 inches of clearance, but if you use these enough it might be worth it. Also the quality on the other brand far exceeds these Rhino ramps so you're also paying for safety since you will be under the car with your life on the line if the cheap Rhino ramps fail.

2 out of 5 stars Ramps Slide Around and Buckle Under Pressure   August 27, 2010
Sam (Tucson, AZ)
I own a Ford Crown Victoria, which is RWD. When I first tried to drive up these ramps, they slid (BTW, I did not ride the brakes during this attempt). To keep them from sliding, I placed them against the curb. The second time I drove up the ramps, the plastic started to buckle. At the point where the ramps met the curb, the plastic bowed outwards. These ramps may have temporarily held the weight of my car, but I don't believe they would last for long. When they finally fail under pressure, someone is going to get seriously hurt. From now on, I will only use steel vehicle ramps. Plastic is not a very good load-bearing material.

2 out of 5 stars Cheap plastic   September 8, 2010
The Honest Reviewer (Massachusetts, USA)
A top corner broke off of one of these ramps, rendering it dangerous. This happened because the ramp slipped and my car's tire landed on the corner. These ramps slip easily, as other users have mentioned. They need to be redesigned with a stronger material and with something on the bottom to make them cling to the ground.

It slides across painted floors. It left an indellable mark on my garage floor.
