After hearing good reviews from my sister, I recently purchase a Bare Escentuals (BE) starter kit. I was excited about the possibility of such easy makeup application, especially about a "finishing powder" to set the makeup and control shine.
I am VERY impressed by almost all of the BE products included in the starter kit, as well as the additional purchases I have made (special attention: Max Coverage Concealer Brush, All-Over Face Colors, SPF 15 Foundation), and Mineral Veil (MV) is no exception. The MV is a cool, pale finishing powder which really brings the whole mineral makeup look together in a last blending/buffing step, completing my new mineral makeup flawless face. This is the BE product which I carry with me at all times for emergency shine control.
I realize that mineral products do not work as well for every person/skin-type, but I highly recommend trying mineral makeup (either BE, very well known, or Everyday Minerals, who offer a free sample kit) as a more natural makeup choice with surprisingly full coverage. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

The purpose of Mineral Veil is to set Bare Escentuals foundation and to finish your look with a dewy glow. To use, you tap a small amount into the lid of the packaging and rub a kabuki powder brush into it in a circular motion. The brush picks up the powder into the bristles, and you buff the brush into your face using the same circular motion. The product glides on smoothly - although it is a powder, it contains an ingredient* that allows you to buff it on so that the finish is silky smooth. The result is skin that shines through your makeup looking polished, clean, but dewy and healthy. It almost looks as if you're behind a silk screen on camera. The infomercials claim that Mineral Veil makes your pores vanish which I would say is an overstatement. It does a very good job of smoothing you over, but it doesn't completely hide your pores. One more thing: the original Mineral Veil is pinky-peach toned. I have yellow undertones and the product is great on me, but I'm not sure how it would work for someone who is olive toned or has darker skin. If your skin is olive toned or darker, you might consider trying the tinted version. It is a very good translucent powder though, and I highly recommend it.
*This extra ingredient is bismuth oxychloride and is only added for this purpose of helping the product glide on smoother. Because of the addition of this product, a lot of people are skeptical of BE's claim that their products are 100% pure.

I might just have to order this three at a time... you can't imagine how light and natural this product is.. and believe me, i have worked for the higher end Fifth Avenue Cosmetic lines.... this is not to be believed until you own it and wear it for yourself.... you will love this product.. I am hooked!!! thank you, DT

i love bare escentuals. it's so natural you don't feel like you have that "heavy makeup face" on. it doesn't clog your pores either. don't forget to "tap" after you swirl--it takes so little that if you have too much in your brush you will end up with lines and wrinkles.

I've been using Bare Minerals for about 2 weeks now, and I LOVE the mineral veil. I do have very light skin, so I can't speak for reviews in which there are claims that it "makes skin look lighter." However, as someone who struggled with patchy skin througout my life (and cystic acne when I was a teen), I can say that I am sold on this product for life. I have large pores, and BE covers them really well without clogging them. The mineral veil is definitely the "finishing product" for the BE line. However, if I do have one recommendation it is this:
Get a Demo!!! Or at the very least, watch the video!!! This make-up should not be coming off on your shirt (I would have noticed that, it has never happened to me. You need VERY little of it to do the trick. Also, there is no reason that the small amount that you put on should ever "cake," as some of the reviewers are claiming. I have friends who have used way too much of this product initially because they were skeptical about how little it actually takes. I was, too, until I went to a BE store and had my colors matched and my makeup done.
Nothing but great things to say about this product. It is great for balancing skin and can be re-applied (minimally!) throughout the day (although I have never seen the need for that, it stays in place well).
