BareEscentuals Foundation works great for women of color too April 13, 2007 Denise P (DC) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Bare Escentuals Foundation works great for women of color too My complexion is a little lighter then Oprah (Winfrey), about average brown and I'm wowed by Bare Escentuals Foundation in "Warm Tan". It applies easily, matches my skin tone, has better coverage then my liquid and feels like your not wearing it. "I GET IT...................." I've been wearing liquid makeup for many years on my oily, sensitive, large pored, tendency to break out skin, hating it. But, since I wanted coverage for under eye darkness and discoloration after acne healing, etc I continued this sad arduous process every day. I apply the Bare Escentuals Foundation after washing with a pore cleansing wash and applying toner. I then use a moisturizer (Always use a moisturizer or primer for your particular skin type under the Bare Escentuals Foundation. Bare Escentuals "bareVitamins - Skin Rev-er Upper" is a little too harsh for me due to my skin regimen), make sure it's fully absorbed, then swirl, tap and buff. The coverage is better then my liquid makeup, cover stick and pressed makeup compact put together because it stays on until I take it off (usually at the end of a 12 to 14 hour work day), and I'm not blending anything in with my fingers or sponges. What a relief. I don't fight with my makeup anymore. I wasn't a believer over night. Since I didn't have time to visit a Sephora salon I ordered a total of three different Bare Escentuals Foundation colors ("Deep", "Dark" and "Warm Deep", although the names sound dark the graphics online looked like a match) before I found a match for my skin tone. The more I swirled, tapped and buffed, the darker those three colors became with a silvery sheen. I was ready to give up but the fourth skin tone color was the winner. I can swirl, tap and buff the "Warm Tan" Bare Escentuals Foundation until I've covered all my imperfections and achieve an even toned look and the color still matches my skin. I blot my skin of excess oil several times a day and I initially had no compact to carry the Bare Escentuals Foundation so I was amazed that most of the makeup stayed on my skin and it looked great. This was not the case with my liquid makeup even when used with my pressed makeup compact. I now have the Bare Escentuals "Flawless Face Case" to carry the Bare Escentuals "Tinted Mineral Veil" for a translucent matte finish over the Bare Escentuals Foundation after blotting excess oil away. I can recommend Bare Escentuals Foundation to anyone who wants makeup that has great coverage, stays on until you take it off, and feels like your not wearing makeup at all. It never clogs my pores and after just a few weeks my skin feels so much smoother and looks better. The key is finding the correct foundation color. I find that some people that don't think the coverage is great may have a BE foundation that is too dark or light for there skin tone. So they are less likely to use as much as they may like to hide any imperfections. I would suggest going into a Sephora salon to have the foundation color applied or ask to buff some foundation colors on the back of your fist. This way you can see the skin tone color you feel comfortable with. Also go to Sephora's website to see examples of all the Bare Escentuals Foundation skin tone colors. I like BE foundation because no other makeup has ever made me look this good. I get compliments all the time now. I have researched other brands of loose foundation makeup and find they have a limited product line. Women of color come in so many different complexions; some of these other companies only have 5 or so skin tone colors available. I also feel better using a well known product I can order from Sephora or Amazon. Should I have any problems or complaints a successful company will be more likely to take care of me.
Great for sensitive skin! June 17, 2004 AlaskaFan (Douglas, AK United States) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I'm allergic to most make-ups and lotions and stuff but I tried this product and have never looked back! It has great coverage and doesn't bother my skin at all, the way some supposed hypo-allergenic make-ups do. Highly recomended
Love it! February 17, 2006 Heather Hill (Ventura, CA USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I love, love, love this makeup! It makes my skin virtually flawless even though I have acne scars, without the matte look that other foundations create. It looks like I am not wearing anything but gives my skin a great glow. I also love that it is natural and made of minerals and protects my skin from the sun. I am too lazy to wash my face at night, so its great that Bare Minerals is so good for the skin that you can actually sleep in it! It improved the condition of my skin. You need to use Mineral Veil over it for a finished look. I love the whole Bare Essentials line.
my search is over this time June 20, 2006 Vio (Colorado) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I was in a hotel in Las Vegas before an important interview and I was again frustrated with my make-up. Nothing I applied really looked "natural". After many years I found a color to match my skin (I have extremely fair skin), but the look of the foundation was cakey after a while. I have trully tried everything and every make-up out there, including make-up brands only found in Europe and nothing worked. It was the only time I gave in to an infomercial because I was simply tired and fed-up. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS MAKEUP!!! I now have a "naturally" beautiful skin and people can't tell I'm even wearing make-up most of the time. A few pointers: 1-Make sure you layer it. It's very important to conceal everyting first! If you apply layer after layer with the concealing brush, the make-up actually looks natural and the concealing part looks nice. Then you can use the big brushes for the all-over foundation. 1(a)-You can just apply in small sections. I usually dab the quantity needed just for my cheeks, then for forhead a.s.o. Trying to cover everything all at once may not be effective because you may need different coverage levels for different areas. 2-You need to use a good moisturizer. My skin is extremely dry and even flaky, so the moisturizer helps the make-up really set. 3-You don't always have to wear the mineral veil. If I'm having one of my "alligator skin" days, I just use the foundation and my skin is not flaky-miraculous! Good luck!
Finally! This is what I've been searching for. June 11, 2006 Surcie 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I'm very fair-skinned, but I have a lot of redness on my chin and around my nose. My cheeks tend to be dry, but I'm prone to acne around my chin and jaw line. And I live in a hot and humid climate. Finding the "perfect" foundation for me is a tall order. But this is it! It makes my skin look flawless and healthy, but I don't feel like I'm wearing a foundation mask. Wearing it actually reduces the redness of my chin (not just conceals it) AND it actually helps clear up my acne!! I know this sounds too good to be true. . . Two things to keep in mind: You'll want to use a cream-based concealer for under your eyes. Also, if your skin is dry or has dry areas (like mine does), be sure to moisturize before using the foundation. After all, it's a powder. And without some sort of moisture component, powders tend to emphasize dry spots or wrinkles.
