Love this keyboard and mouse February 9, 2008 C. Barker (sanford, fl United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been using another popular brand of ergonomic wireless mouse & keyboard for over a year and it drove me crazy with the hit and miss way it worked. When it worked it was great...but after having one final meltdown last month while trying to finish a job before deadline (it is no fun hitting the same key 5 times to get one letter typed) I ordered the Logitech wave set. I was really afraid it might have the same issues but it is day and night above anything I've ever used. It was love at first type actually. I've been using an ergonomic keyboard for 8 years and wasn't sure if this would be ergo enough, but it's better! I was comfortable typing right from the start on it, more so than any I've used. Love the padded wrist rest and the wave part really makes a difference. I had one issue with the mouse where I kept hitting the back button by mistake. It's badly placed. It was easy enough to take care of with the installed software though, I just disabled that button. No more problems. It was a button I wouldn't use anyway really so no big deal to me. Not one missed key stroke either. I highly recommend this, so much that this is the first review I've ever taken the time to write.
A new owner's perspective August 29, 2008 Lydia Eve Mckay (Lacey, WA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Note: I'm a woman with very small hands. I can only speak from my own perspective and let you interpret how to use my experiences. I just got this set yesterday and have really been enjoying it. It's much more comfortable than my last Logitech set (LX700), but that comes with it being 5 years newer. The keyboard seems to be nice and quiet, even for a very fast typist like me. Quieter than any other keyboard I've used before. It's difficult getting used to the new placement of the home, end, delete, page up, and page down buttons, but this is not the only keyboard nowadays that has this. It's not really an issue, just a bit of a learning curve. I like the amount of customization that I'm able to do. I can set my frequently visited web pages to certain keys, have my music pop up with the click of one button, as well as switching between programs without having to go with alt+tab. This is especially nice for people like me with very small hands. One thing that is a bit inconvenient is the fact that the media buttons do not work in Foobar (which is my media player of choice). This isn't really a big deal considering I normally just set my music and minimize the player for several hours. The mouse is fantastic. I love that it's much smaller than my previous mouse, so it fits really well in my hand. I don't understand those who have complained about the placement of the forward and back buttons. For me, it's actually easier. I have a very small shift (instead of having to completely move my thumb, which was uncomfortable) and bam, the button's been clicked. Have not done it accidentally, but it's very comfortable to use them. Also, I've found that it tracks really really well. I read one reviewer who said that "the problem was obvious when you noticed that the laser is high up and covered partly by plastic". Actually, if you'll notice, the laser is angled in such a way as to be effectively centered even though it doesn't appear to be at first glance. So, to summarize: -Keyboard Pros- Comfortable Quiet Extremely customizable Easy on smaller hands -Keyboard Cons- Media buttons do not work in Foobar (my media player of choice) Home, end, delete, page up, and page down buttons are placed differently than standard (a feature not exclusive to this keyboard) -Mouse Pros- Great for small hands Comfortable Tracks excellently Scrolls smoothly in all directions Back and forward buttons are comfortable to use -Mouse Cons- None that I've found. Also, I found the software to be very easy to install and use. Within about 5 minutes I was ready to go! If necessary, I will come and amend this review once I've had more time to use it. This is simply my first bit of impression of it. Over all, EXCELLENT!
Free your fingers, simplify your life! - a review from a satisfied MAC user September 25, 2007 Nathan Andersen (Florida) 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've occasionally tried new or funky keyboard designs and been underwhelmed. For some time now, I've stuck to my standard Mac keyboard because it had several functions I liked even though it was fairly uncomfortable. I have found, however, Logitech's new ergonomic "Wave" keyboard and mouse to be an excellent product that has already simplified my life at the keyboard. It took about five minutes to setup the keyboard and mouse, and then another ten minutes to find and install the Mac driver on their website. (It would have been nice for there to be some indication in the packaging that Mac users would have to get a different driver than the one that is included for Windows Vista users.) After that, however, I was up and running. Whatever bugs earlier reviewers have reported in the Mac drivers seem to have been worked out and the system works like a charm. The function buttons are preprogrammed for standard application use -- iTunes, iCal, Word, Excel, Safari, etc. -- and can be reprogrammed very easily. The keyboard feels smooth and comfortable and is very lightweight. Best of all, it can be picked up and moved. I can type from across the room if I like -- and if you can't see what you are typing from far away, there is a handy zoom button that automatically boosts the size of the font on web pages (or increases the size of photos). The mouse is a fairly standard wireless mouse, with a handy ambidextrous design, a programmable button on either side and a scroll that has programmable clicks and even left right scroll functions. Probably my favorite feature is the handy music controls at the top of the keyboard -- one button that opens my iTunes and then a volume control, track forward and backward, play, pause, stop and mute buttons. The only minor quibble I can imagine is that the keyboard feels so good on my hands and is so useful for so many functions it is almost a pain to have to reach away from it to use the included mouse -- in that sense I almost wish there were a small track pad attached here so that you could perform most mouse functions directly on the keyboard (and reserve the mouse itself for more precise applications like gaming or graphics editing, etc.). That is, however, a minor complaint. I've given up my standard Mac keyboard for good. Logitech won me over with this one.
Excellent package with well thought out details September 26, 2007 Penumbra (Atlanta, GA USA) 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
To give the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave keyboard and mouse a real workout, I've set them up at my office. From box to completely set up and functioning took less than ten minutes, including loading the Logitech SetPoint software. The keyboard does appear to have an actual wave down the middle. Having used flat, regulation keyboards all my life with no problem, the slope in this keyboard looked very strange at first. I was skeptical about the "wave" design, but they're right. It's not just a gimmick; the slight rise in the keys does making typing more comfortable. The keyboard wave starts to rise gently around the 5, crests at 6, and recedes at about 7 (QWERTY). The keyboard has a two and a half inch rubberized border along the lower edge which serves as a convenient place to rest your wrists. The keys themselves are large, curved for good finger placement, and clearly marked with white labels. The upper edge and left side of the keyboard contain the hot keys. There is one stroke access to Explorer (you can specify the home page), My Pictures, My Music, Media Center, Calculator, Document Flip, Zoom In/Out, and Sleep. If you don't like the default settings, you can easily customize them for your own needs. The function keys give you two stroke access to Word, Excel, Calendar, Explorer, MS Messenger, Email application, Yahoo Livewords, Battery Status, CD Eject, and three keys available to personalize. There is a Media Center control panel in the upper center of the keyboard that includes single key forward, back, play/pause, volume up/down, and mute. The mouse is large (4.5 x 2.5 x 1.75), but well designed to feel comfortable in the hand. The sides are rubberized for an easy grip. The mouse has the standard left and right click keys; the scroll wheel also functions as a Document Flip fast key button; extra keys on the left and right side of the mouse can be used for forward and back, left and right click, or left and right scroll. Mouse keys can be used with default settings, but are also customizable. A special tab section in the SetPoint software allows you to customize the mouse for Game Mode Settings, too. The receiver is slim and protrudes only about two inches from the USB port when installed. Both keyboard and mouse have red "connect" buttons on the underside. The bottom of the mouse also has an on/off button and a green status light. My computer is running Windows XP, while I understand the Wave keyboard and mouse are even more feature rich for Vista users, I was delighted with the array of options available for XP users. The software is intuitive and easy to use. You don't have to be an Electrical Engineer to figure out how to customize your settings. The keyboard and mouse are very attractive - black with subtle metallic blue/gray accents. Both keyboard and mouse use two standard AA batteries (furnished). The battery life is estimated at six months. The Wave set are comfortable, easy to use, easy to set up, conveniently cord free, and look nice on the desk. Highly recommended!
One of the best sets I have ever purchased January 18, 2008 Kay (Corinth, TX USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This gets 4 stars overall for a reason. It is easy to set up, easy to operate. The design is faultless. I also like the feature that puts it into sleep mode if it goes unused for a period of time, cutting down on the frequency of battery changing. You will not be disappointed with this keyboard/mouse set.
