I have never done my taxes before by myself, and I was finished with my taxes within an hour and a half of buying this. It's not that my taxes are easy or very basic, my wife and I filled jointly and we have a house to write off as well as student loans, IRA's, union dues, and a few other odds and ends. It steps you through everything, and makes it very simple.

I've used TurboTax for many years to prepare my tax return without incurring the major cost of a CPA. And each year it becomes better and easier to use! Intuit continues to make improvements even when I can see no need for them.

I have always prepared my own return by hand and over the past couple years have grown to dread my tax preparation each year. I decided to try turbotax and am VERY pleased. I was able to finish my federal and state returns in under 30 minutes. It was extremely easy and it steps you through the process with ease. I will be buying this again next year.

It appears that Turbo Tax has gone back to allowing more than one income tax return. You get free Federal e file, but have to pay $19.95 for State e file. I do think it would be wise for them to put in some directions for using the rest of the program beside the directed part. I like using the forms so that Turbo Tax does the calculations. If you go through the directed part you have to do all the calculation. In years past the directed part used the forms, I liked that better so that my calculations were checked by the program. This is especially helpful for lots of medical expenses and other expenses that have to be added up, you then have a typed record of these items also. But you can go over and use the forms, you just have to know this fact.
I was happy with the program this year, it is better than last year. I will continue to use Turbo Tax in the future as long as they keep as many returns as you want, people do make mistakes and need to do it more than once in some cases. In fact I like to do two, one with deductions and one without to see where I stand. I also like to do my children's returns if they need that done especially while they are students.

I love TurboTax!! Over the years, as my taxes have gotten more and more complicated, it has saved me so much money from going to see an accountant. It walks you through the entire process. The only thing you have to do is fill in the numbers. Works great for any forms you have, including W-2s or 1099s. Helps you with maximizing write offs so you pay less. Also, it automatically files the taxes for you.
Don't know what I'd do without this program.
