best home filter! November 13, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've lived and camped all over, including many places with funky tasting or dangerous tap/ river water. Sulfer in water smells the worst, many minerals and chemicals just taste bad and Giardia ridden water at camp sites will make you sick. Consequesntly, I'm a big fan of water-filters for camping and filter pitchers for home use; Pur is the best brand that I've used, for both. Do the research, Pur removes MORE impurities than other (more common) brands. After buying a pitcher, the replacement filters are easy to use, relatively quick and super effective (and cheaper, like everything else, when bought in bulk quantity).
Great filter, great dispenser. January 2, 2005 Allan M. Gathercoal (Norcross, GA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I live in Peru, in the Andes where, for `gringos', it is imperative to have filtered water or expensive bottle water. I have tested the water that is piped from the town water supply and it had fecal contamination. I have used the Pur Dispenser for two years and, knock on plastic, have never be sick from bacterial enteropathogens. We are also careful in food preparation (Duh). Though the filter is slated for 40 gallons I have used it for at least twice that with good results. I highly recommend, both the dispenser, and filter for those that have (or suspect they have) contaminate water.
GREAT COUNTERTOP WATER SYSTEM March 9, 2007 B. Harper (Monterey, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We used the Britta system for almost 9 years to filter our nasty tasting local water. We were becoming dissatisfied with the "floating" carbon particles with each filter change and found that the filters were not taking out all of the bad taste. We decided to give the PUR countertop system a try - about the same price as Britta to set up - and were amazed at the better quality of filtered water! The taste is great and no more carbon floaters from the filters. The only "complaint" would be that these filters are harder to find and more expensive than Britta. The extra cost is worth it.
Pur Small Pitcher Filters March 20, 2006 Marc M. Ponzio 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had a PUR water pitcher for about 6-7 years now. It's a good filter, the water tastes fine. I was a bit worried when I bought these filters that maybe my old pitcher wouldn't fit the newest filters, but everything worked well. I would recommend the PUR water filter pitcher to anyone.
PUR Filter really pure January 14, 2007 Bharat H. Jain (Whitehall, PA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have been using PUR water system for almost 2 years, we are glad we switched to PUR from BRITA. As BRITA was giving all kinds of things in water even after filtering and PUR gives such a refreshing taste to the water that even in Phoenix we could drink tap water after filtering it. The price at amazon for 3 filter was just $10, which was great and we bought them for a year stock. Great Product, Great Price, Great taste.
